Nick Diamonds Announces New Solo LP + Debuts ‘The Sting’

Nick Thorburn – who goes by the stage name Nick Diamonds – has announced that he will put out a new solo album in May and shared the LP’s lead single.

The Unicorns and Islands frontman’s upcoming full-length, City of Quartz, will arrive on May 26 on his own Manque Music label. “The Sting” is the first song to emerge from the album, which follows I Am an Attic, Thorburn’s 2011 effort under his Nick Diamonds moniker. Listen to the new song below:

The dark, stealthy cut would make perfect theme music for a sting of the heist variety. Of course, making theme music is hardly outside the realm of Thorburn’s talents, as he also composed the now-famous score for Sarah Koenig’s popular Serial podcast (Thorburn discussed his experience making the podcast with Diffuser in an interview you can read here).

Thorburn is scheduled to share the stage with the New Pornographers and How to Dress Well for a concert this weekend on Feb. 28 in San Francisco. If you’re in the area, you can grab tickets here.
