A month ago, Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers revealed “High Neck Lace,” the first track to emerge from their upcoming sophomore effort, Loved Wild Lost. While it’s hard to disguise the classic country tone and power of Bluhm’s knockout vocals, the cut was a darker affair. Now, the band has debuted the upcoming LP’s jubilant lead single, “Waiting on Love,” which offers another side of Bluhm and company’s talents. Listen below:

“[‘Waiting on Love’] is about what happens to summer love once summer ends,” Gramblers guitarist Deren Ney said in a press release. “It’s the nostalgia of keeping that spark alive when reality barges in. And it’s about 12-string guitar blaring out of a stereo.”

“When I first heard Deren play ‘Waiting on Love,’ its cheerful cadence almost masked its darker content,” Bluhm adds. “I love the juxtaposition of dark and light.”

Loved Wild Lost is slated for an April 21 release following the band’s 2013 self-titled debut. Pre-order the new album here.
