Obits Take Grim (Yet Child-Like) Look at the Future In ‘Operation Bikini’ Video

Obits crafted a set of thrashing garage-punk tunes on their latest album, ‘Beds & Bugs,’ and today, the Brooklyn foursome debuted a video for one of its raging tracks, ‘Operation Bikini.’ Directed by Wood Tobias, Jr. and illustrated by Perry Shall, the clip rivals the song in intensity.

As frontman Rick Frogberg (formerly of Pitchfork and Drive Like Jehu) howls, Shall’s bespectacled, wormish character flies in from space and lands on a version of earth ravaged by death and decay. Paired with the gruesome backgrounds, Shall’s child-like renderings make for a jarring clip and a grim take on the future of the planet.

The new video arrives as Obits begin an extended North American and European tour today (Nov. 14) in Vancouver.
