Has Okkervil River's Will Sheff gone electropop? The singer-guitarist has announced a new solo side project titled Lovestreams that finds the singer embracing his synth-pop side, and with the announcement, he posted the first Lovestreams release, a song titled 'Shock Corridor.'

In a note posted on Sheff's website on Monday (Jan. 14), he explained the origins of his new project:

In the early part of last year I started renting a room down in a basement a couple neighborhoods over from my apartment in Brooklyn and I started going in and working every day of the week there, just shutting the door and writing until evening. I decided to do a project there I’d wanted to do for years and years, which is to make an album by myself and for myself, an album that doesn’t owe anything to music I made before. When I finished the album I decided I’d give some the songs away for free since it cost almost nothing to make.”

The first of such songs being given away for free is 'Shock Corridor, which is streaming below. Last week Sheff posted the song's lyrics as a numbered list, which you can check out here. As mentioned in his note, expect some more tunes from Lovestreams to surface  in the near future.
