After a busy week of performing at this year's SXSW, Parlour Tricks returned to Brooklyn to play a hometown show at Rough Trade on Friday night (March 27).

"This Friday night is way better than last Friday night. It's like a vacation," lead singer Lily Cato told the crowd after relaying their hectic schedule down in Austin.

But even though the band had to get up at 4AM for the dreaded long car ride back to New York City from SXSW, they didn't let any exhaustion show during their seven-song set at the record store. While the guys were tight on the instruments, the women held things down with their fluid harmonies that transitioned effortlessly from song to song -- and the fun choreography added an old school girl group vibe to the performance. And although the music sounds a bit electronic, Cato brought her full soul voice to the songs, creating a deep and rich delivery.

Parlour Tricks may have been the first on the bill Friday night, but the way they played, they could've been the gig's headliners.

As it stands right now, Parlour Tricks -- who signed with Bar/None Records earlier this year -- have no other dates on their bill just yet. However, they are gearing up for the release of their debut album, Broken Hearts/Bones, in June; be on the lookout for a new tour schedule then.
