Singer-songwriter Paul Simon, one-half of Simon & Garfunkel and the guy behind '50 Ways to Leave Your Lover,' was arrested over the weekend.

According to NBC Connecticut, the New Canaan Police Department confirmed that Simon -- along with his wife, singer-songwriter Edie Brickell -- was arrested in New Canaan, Conn., on "some sort of a domestic violence charge" on Saturday night.

The 72-year-old music legend and his wife, who were married in 1992, live in New Canaan. They have three children. Brickell's latest album is a bluegrass album with Steve Martin (yes, that Steve Martin) that was released last year.

The Police Department plan to release more news, presumably with details, later today.

UPDATE: NBC Connecticut updated its original statement, now saying that the singer was charged with disorderly conduct. Police have described the disturbance as “a very common domestic dispute” and were “obligated to make an arrest.” There were minor injuries that did not require medical attention.
