Paul Weller Announces Vinyl Reissues of Early Albums

Paul Weller fans who've been scouring the used vinyl racks for affordable copies of his early albums won't have to deal with the collector's market much longer.

NME reports that Weller's announced a Nov. 18 release date for new, 180-gram vinyl reissues of his self-titled 1992 debut as well as 1997's Heavy Soul. Both albums have long been out of print on the format, and used copies can fetch impressive prices, with Paul Weller and Heavy Soul trading above $50 or even $100.

According to the report, the Paul Weller and Heavy Soul reissues are expected to be followed by 2000's Heliocentric and 2002's Illumination next year. In the meantime, Weller's working on a pair of new projects — his soundtrack for the boxing drama Jawbone is scheduled for release next year, and he's also reportedly working on a proper follow-up to his most recent studio album, 2015's Saturns Pattern.

Weller's also keeping busy with an array of non-musical projects. His clothing line, Real Stars Are Rare, celebrated its second birthday earlier this month, and he also recently contributed narration to the short film The Devil. Directed by Emma-Rosa Dias, the feature is described as "a celebration of fashion, music and Mod subculture" that "examines the scene's attention to detail, sense of community and of course the music that soundtracked it." Weller also continues to promote a variety of charitable endeavors, including the Be One Percent program, which encourages people to donate one percent of their monthly salary.
