"I just don't want to do this anymore," Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus told his bandmates after a 1999 Coachella festival gig, officially ending one of the most influential bands of the '90s after an extended period of growing animosity within its ranks.

Malkmus seemed perfectly content with his modestly successful solo project the Jicks, but after years of speculation, the inevitable happened in 2010, when Pavement embarked on a massive comeback tour that wound down later that year. As promised, it was their sole reunion trek -- so far.
