On May 5, Brandi Carlile's breakthrough 2007 album The Story will be reinterpreted by other artists on Cover Stories: Brandi Carlile Celebrates 10 Years of The Story - An Album to Benefit War Child. You can check out Pearl Jam's take on "Again Today' above.

"This album defined our band and welded the Twins [songwriting collaborators and musicians Phil and Tim Hanseroth] and me to one another forever," Carlile said in a press release. "It's been a transformative experience to revisit it 10 years later and watch it become something bigger than me. To hear the songs through the voices of my heroes is both surreal and humbling."

In addition to Pearl Jam, contributors include Dolly Parton, Kris Kristofferson, Indigo Girls, Shovels & Rope, Jim James and the Avett Brothers. The Story is recreated in sequence, including the hidden track, Hiding My Heart," which was performed by Adele.

All proceeds from Cover Stories will benefit War Child UK, a charity that seeks to improve the lives of children in war-torn countries through education and protection services. Carlile's own Looking Out Foundation has been raising funds for War Child since 2016.

"This is a David and Goliath story," Carlile said. "Since becoming a mother, the reality of a child's beautiful life being torn apart by war felt like too big of a problem for me. So I asked my heroes and friends to help me launch a rock at the giant that is our refugee crisis and help in the only way we know how, through the power of music. It's not how hard you can throw, it's how high you're willing to aim."

The foreword for Cover Stories was penned by former president Barack Obama. "As an artist, Brandi Carlile is using her talent on behalf of the most vulnerable among us, children living in areas of conflict. She reminds us that, together, we can build for our children a more just, peaceful world," he wrote.
