The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced the list of nominees for its 2017 induction ceremony with a shortlist that includes Pearl Jam, Depeche Mode, Jane’s Addiction, and Bad Brains.

As in previous years, a number of potential inductees have been nominated before, while others are making their first appearance on the ballot. This was the first year Pearl Jam were eligible to be nominated, as their first album, 1991’s Ten, was released 25 years ago; other first-timers include Jane’s Addiction, who released their debut, Nothing’s Shocking, in 1988, and Bad Brains, who’ve been a fixture on the Washington, D.C. hardcore circuit since the late ’70s.

Elsewhere on the musical spectrum, acts honored by this year’s Rock Hall nominations include hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur and R&B vets Chaka Khan and Janet Jackson, as well as folk icon Joan Baez and classic rock mainstays Electric Light Orchestra, Journey, and Steppenwolf.

Last year’s class was dominated by classic rock artists, with Cheap Trick, Deep Purple, Steve Miller and Chicago joining N.W.A on the list of inductees. Nine Inch Nails, the Smiths, Janet Jackson, Chic, Chaka Khan, the Spinners, the J.B.’s, Los Lobos, the Cars and Yes were nominated in 2016, but ultimately not elected.

Fans will be allowed a small role in helping to determine who gets elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – with all fan votes combined into one ballot, equal to that of any of the hundreds of artists, historians and industry insiders who make up the nominating committee. You can vote once a day at rockhall.com, starting today and ending at 11:59 p.m. ET on Dec. 5. Chicago won this fan vote in 2016.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled to take place in April of 2017, with HBO presenting an mercifully edited version of the ceremony later in the year.
