Pearl Jam headlined the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on Saturday and they closed out the festivities with even more modern rock star power than usual. Alternative Nation notes that Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer and drummer Chad Smith and Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill joined them during their encore performance of Neil Young's "Rockin' in the Free World."

Followill played tambourine (Vedder said, "He's overqualified, I know") and Smith took over drums for Pearl Jam's Matt Cameron, who picked up a guitar. Cameron, of course, is also the longtime drummer for Soundgarden.

Last week, following the news of Prince's death, Pearl Jam gave an informal tribute during their show in South Carolina. Vedder called Prince "the greatest guitar player we've ever seen" and Pearl Jam's Mike McCready played a portion of "Purple Rain."
