Peter Gabriel's classic album 'So' will receive a special anniversary edition in September. On Friday (March 23) Gabriel sent out a tweet saying, "'So' 25 ½ is coming September 2012..." with a link to his website, which contained the following message from his label, Real World.

'So' is one of the most important albums in Peter's career and we're delighted to announce that in September 2012 we will be releasing the 'So' 25.½ re-issue.

There's a lot of work to be done at Real World to bring you this special edition so please register your interest below to be updated with all the latest news and pre-order information. To start you off we can reveal that 'So' has been completely re-mastered.

'So,' which was released in 1986 (hence the '½') is the ex-Genesis frontman's biggest selling album. Led by the No. 1 single 'Sledgehammer' and its iconic video, 'So' has sold over 5 million copies in the United States and reached No. 2 on Billboard's album chart. In addition to 'Sledgehammer,' three other songs from 'So,' 'Big Time,' 'In Your Eyes' and 'Don't Give Up,' charted on the Billboard Hot 100.

We're sitting on our hands waiting for more information about this. Who knows what outtakes, remixes or concerts Gabriel will be able to dig up for this new edition.
