Ahead of the release of his sixth album, Something in the Water, Pokey LaFarge has debuted a lyric video for the LP’s title track, which you can watch above. The country singer-songwriter said an official music video for the song is on its way and will be premiered soon.

LaFarge’s upcoming album -- which can be pre-ordered here -- will arrive on April 7 via Rounder Records, and he says it embraces an innate Midwestern spirit.

“The Midwest is at the heart of this record,” LaFarge says. “The people playing on these songs are from Wisconsin and Illinois and Chicago and St. Louis, and there’s a certain attitude that comes across in the songs and the way that they’re performed.”

“I’m born and raised in the Midwest, and my family’s been here for generations,” he continued. “This is where I’m from and how I think, and that’s reflected in the music I make.”

In addition to Something in the Water’s title track, the 12-song set will include tracks titled “Wanna Be Your Man,” “Underground,” “Cairo, Illinois,” “Barcelona” and “Knocking the Dust Off the Rust Belt Tonight.”

LaFarge has added tour dates in New Zealand and Australia for the end of March. The North American leg of the tour kicks off in April in Dallas, Texas. Check out the full itinerary on the singer’s website.
