Portishead found a relatively unexpected way to come back. For their first new song in six years, the U.K. trip-hop trio have contributed an eerie cover of ABBA's 1975 hit, “SOS,” to the soundtrack of the sci-fi thriller High-Rise.

Portishead (Geoff Barrow, Adrian Utley and singer Beth Gibbons) totally reimagine the sugary Swede-pop as a gloomy dirge. It's the first new music from Portishead since their 2009 charity single, “Chase The Tear.” Check out "SOS" below.

For fans, anything from Portishead has been a long time coming. Talk of future music began percolating in February 2014 when Utley said he and the other members were “clearing schedules” in advance of recording, but little has materialized. The ABBA cover is currently only slated for release on the High-Rise soundtrack. The movie, starring Tom Hiddleston (aka Thor's "Loki"), hits theaters May 13.

And in case you'd forgotten the ABBA version, here it is in all its '70s glory.
