Back in May, Prince unveiled a new song, “Baltimore,” featuring Eryn Allen Kane, which addressed the unrest in the Maryland city following the death of Freddie Gray while in police custody. Now, that song has received a music video, which you can watch above.

The new, Ralston Smith-directed clip compiles the song’s lyrics, newspaper headlines following Gray’s death, scenes from the subsequent Baltimore protests and footage from Prince’s Rally 4 Peace concert, which benefited local youth charities. The video concludes with a quote from Prince: “The system is broken. It’s going to take the young people to fix it this time. We need new ideas, new life.”

While “Baltimore” originally manifested as a song featuring Prince and his band, 3rdEyeGirl, the iconic singer later re-recorded the track entirely on his own. At the time of the song’s release, Prince wrote on his Soundcloud, “Let’s all continue to fight the good fight and confront inhumanity on every level until the day it is no longer.”

More recently, Prince shared another new song, “Hardrocklover,” which marks the third single he’s released so far this year.
