Minneapolis resident and all-around badass Prince makes what he does look easy. Today (May 9), he reinforced this notion by releasing a new song, "Baltimore," adding his own voice to the turmoil going on in the song's namesake city. It's one of the smoothest, coolest song recorded by anyone, anywhere, ever.

Prince first revealed he was working on the song, along with the song's lyrics, to Minneapolis TV station Fox 9. One lucky reporter, Iris Perez, was invited into Prince's Paisley Park studio to witness Prince and his band, 3rdEyeGirl, lay down the tune's main tracks.

According to Prince's SoundCloud page, he later scrapped that version and did it all himself:

The original recording subsequently became a demo when Prince, that very same night - all alone in Studio A, played all the instruments on an entire new version of the song. The next morning Joshua Welton and Kirk Johnson transferred Prince's tracks in2 Studio B. and mixing began.

This comes hot on the heels of Prince's string of surprise shows throughout the U.S. starting May 14. He is also set to play a concert in Baltimore, dubbed the Rally 4 Peace, tomorrow (May 10).
