Queens of the Stone Age have released a trailer clip for upcoming album Villains, which is to be released on Aug. 25, accompanied by a six-week North American tour. You can view the video above, which is mainly made up of studio scenes, and, presumably, also offers a hint of a track from the LP.

Mainman Josh Homme recently rejected the suggestion that the title of the follow-up to 2013’s …Like Clockwork was a political statement. “It has nothing to do with [Donald] Trump or any of that s---," he said. "It’s simply 1) a word that looks fantastic and 2) a comment on the three versions of every scenario: yours, mine and what actually happened… Everyone needs someone or something to rail against – their villain – same as it ever was. You can’t control that. The only thing you can really control is when you let go.”

Earlier this year, before Villains had been announced, Homme spoke of the band being “ready to pounce” in terms of the music’s urgency. He added: “I feel like we’re just leaning on the gate waiting for someone to open that sucker up so we can move. I think the record feels that way too — it feels uptempo.

“At the end of the day, this is just a musical way to explain a lifetime. So the most important record I’m making is the one I’m working on. For the lack of a better term, I bet my life on it. If you don’t risk anything, you’re not gonna get anything. I don’t want to copy myself, I just want to take another chance at it. It keeps it always exciting that way.”
