On Sept. 16, Rain City Rockers unleashed their debut record, ‘Mayday.’ Full of golden indie punk rock tracks and hooks, the band’s sound is reminiscent of acts like Sum 41, Goldfinger, Gob and Die Mannequin.

That’s not an accident -- it's by design.

Rain City Rockers are a supergroup of sorts, featuring Tom Thacker (Sum 41, Gob), Anthony Bleed (Die Mannequin) and Darrin Pfeiffer (Goldfinger), and it is the brainchild of 23-year-old Andrew Conroy.

The idea for the band came from one of Conroy’s vinyl shopping spree. “Looking through all the records I had purchased ... they were recorded live off the floor with no click tracks -- with great musicians. It got me thinking, ‘How can I do this in the 21st century? How can I take the best parts of what made music great in the ‘60s and ‘70s?’”

That led him directly to his friends, Pfeiffer and Thacker. And from there, the project erupted into Rain City Rockers and ‘Mayday.’ And today (Dec. 8), Diffuser is beyond thrilled to partner with Conroy and the guys in the band for a couple of really cool deals.

First, we want to hook you up with a brand-new track from Rain City Rockers. Just in time for the holidays, the band is premiering their latest tune, ‘Modern Day Griswolds,’ in the audio player below:

“‘Modern Day Grisolds’ is a fun take on Christmas songs,” Conroy tells us. “Christmas is a great time of the year, but we’ve all got some crazy family members, just like the Griswolds. I wanted to poke fun at that rather than do a typical sappy Christmas song. The result is a fast-paced rock song with some snarky lyrics.”

If you like what you hear, Rain City Rockers are in the holiday spirit and are offering it as a free download, right here.

And as if that wasn’t enough, the rock stars have given us one of their very own guitars, autographed by all the members. “It’s a 1992 Gibson SG, a classic guitar with a great sound,” explains Conroy. “When we were recording the album, Tom was immediately drawn to it. He’s always been a fan of SGs, so to him, it was a no-brainer. This is the exact guitar used on the album, and it can be seen in the music video for ‘Saint Babe.’”
