If you plan on talking during a Ray LaMontagne show, you'd better not sit too close to the stage. That's a lesson one couple learned the hard way last night during a performance by the singer-songwriter at a sold-out Frederik Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids, Mich.

According to a report by WZZM13, LaMontagne tore into a profanity-laden rant when an engaged couple in the front row allegedly talked during his set. LaMontagne then stormed offstage and said he wouldn't return until the pair left. MLive reports that LaMontagne seethed, “Why don’t you go the [expletive] home and talk?”

After security and a member of LaMontagne's crew spoke to the couple, they packed up their chairs and left as the rest of the audience booed. LaMontagne eventually walked back onstage and continued the concert with no mention of the incident.

Shawn Virgo, the man kicked out, said he and his fiancee were whispering about using LaMontagne's 'You Are the Best Thing' as their wedding song when the singer began cursing at them.

"It was embarrassing, humiliating, and in front of everyone," said Virgo. "It was just whispers in the ear about our upcoming wedding and how excited we are. We were holding hands and talking about how excited we were that this was coming about."
