A rare Red Hot Chili Peppers demo recorded during the band's five-year tenure with Dave Navarro recently surfaced online. Last night (Feb. 6), RHCP revisited that era of their career, performing “Aeroplane” for the first time in almost 20 years.

Anthony Kiedis and company pulled out “Aeroplane” from the depths of their catalog for a Super Bowl pre-party in San Francisco. The track appeared on 1995’s One Hot Minute, the Chili Peppers’ one and only album with the Jane’s Addiction guitarist. According to Alternative Nation, the band hasn’t played the song since Fuji Rock Festival in 1997, their final gig with Navarro. The RHCP and Navarro demo “Circle of the Noose” emerged on the internet last week. Navarro confirmed its authenticity, calling it a “trip down memory lane.” The California rockers and Navarro recorded the song during scrapped sessions for a One Hot Minute follow-up that never came to fruition.
