‘Collapse Into Now’
Of all the album cover GIFs we’ve compiled, R.E.M.‘s ‘Collapse Into Now’ was probably begging for an animated makeover the least. In fact, R.E.M. themselves seemed resigned to not really putting forth much effort on anything after recording the disc.
The original cover art simply features the three main members outlined in black with the ‘Collapse Into Now’ typeface. The group largely stayed out of the video making process and decided not to tour in support of the album, and not long after, we would learn they were retiring from music.
This animated GIF does give the cover a little life – each of the members emerge within the artwork.
