Replacements Reunion EP Gets Title, Artwork

The Replacement Songs For Slim

The Replacements have revealed the title and artwork of their forthcoming comeback EP. The set is called ‘Songs for Slim’ and will be issued in a limited edition of 250 copies. No release date has been announced for the collection, sales of which will benefit former Replacements guitarist Slim Dunlap, who suffered a stroke in February.

‘Songs for Slim’ reunites frontman Paul Westerberg and bassist Tommy Stinson for the first time since 2006. They were joined in the studio by guitarist Kevin Bowe, a member of Westerberg’s backing band, and drummer Peter Anderson. The track listing includes a version of Dunlap’s solo song ‘Busted Up,’ ‘Everything’s Coming Up Roses’ from the Broadway musical ‘Gypsy’ and covers of Gordon Lightfoot’s ‘I’m Not Sayin’’ and Hank Williams’ ‘Lost Highway.’

The 250 copies will arrive in the form of 10-inch vinyl records, each of which will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Sometime after the conclusion of the auctions, the music will be available for digital download. Check out the newly launched website and Facebook page for more information about the EP, which — fingers crossed — could lead to more activity from the band.

“[It's] possible,” frontman Westerberg said last fall when asked whether the EP might lead to future Replacements touring and recording. “I’m closer to it now than I was two years ago, let’s say that.”
