Rhett Miller is just a couple of weeks out from the release of his solo album, The Traveler. In advance of its arrival, he’s unveiled “Kiss Me on the Fire Escape,” the second track to surface from the upcoming LP. Take a listen below (via the Wall Street Journal’s Speakeasy):

“Kiss Me on the Fire Escape” follows “Most in the Summertime,” the first single from the Old 97’s leader’s upcoming full-length, which he debuted last month. The album will feature Miller’s work with Black Prairie -- a Portland-based bluegrass outfit featuring members of the Decemberists -- along with members of R.E.M, including guitarist Peter Buck.

Miller says those collaborations are not only a key part of The Traveler’s ethos, but they’re also a driving force behind “Kiss Me,” specifically. As the singer told Speakeasy, the new song “is a perfect example of the collaboration and camaraderie that is the foundation of The Traveler.”

The Traveler will arrive in stores on May 12 via ATO Records, following the Texas-hailing singer-songwriter's 2012 solo effort, The Dreamer. You can pre-order the forthcoming album now over on iTunes.
