There's still a good chance the closest we'll ever come to seeing Rivers Cuomo in a sitcom is in Weezer's 'Happy Days'-inspired video for 'Buddy Holly.'

Cuomo said Fox might have jumped the gun by releasing a statement about a potential sitcom based on his life, as was widely reported yesterday (Aug. 28). Cuomo clarified on Twitter that making a "put pilot" for a show -- like the one he and 'Psych' creator Steve Franks are reportedly working on together -- is nowhere near a guarantee the series will ever make it to air.

Deadline originally reported that Cuomo and Franks would be collaborating on a pilot for 'DeTour,' a sitcom about a rock star who struggles with his fame and walks away from music to “rediscover the parts of his life he missed while he was busy becoming a massive success.”

The plot would be based on Cuomo’s real life experiences -- including when he took a sabbatical from the band eight years ago to become a full-time student at Harvard. The show would “mirror and embellish Cuomo’s journey with a fictional character and his small band of misfit friends.”

For now, it's probably best just to look forward to Weezer's upcoming album, ‘Everything Will Be Alright In The End’, which is due for release on Oct. 7.
