Last night (Jan. 23), Judd Apatow wrapped up his stint of guest hosting the 'Late Late Show' with some high-profile guests, including Jeff Goldblum and Garry Shandling, and musical guest Ryan Adams. You can watch the entire episode at this location -- Adams' chilling performance (above) of 'Gimme Something Good' kicks in around the 33-minute mark.

'Gimme Something Good' received a whole new treatment with Adams turning the rocker into a somber acoustic ballad, with Don Was handling rhythm duties on an upright bass. Following the performance, Adams provided Apatow a soundtrack while the comedian and guest host shared his thoughts on his 'Late Late Show' run.

Adams was obviously having a good time, if his recent tweets are any indication:

(It's also being reported that while Adams was filming for the late night TV appearance, his wife of five years, Mandy Moore, was filing for divorce. Out of respect for their privacy, we won't dive in any deeper.)

When you're done with Adams' captivating rendition of 'Gimme Something Good,' take a few minutes to compare it with the studio track below. Which version do you prefer?
