Ryan Adams played his first show of the year earlier this week in Portland, Maine, and fans were treated to the first live performance of 'Stay With Me,' a Tom Petty-esque track from his upcoming self-titled album. Check out a fan-shot video above.

The former Whiskeytown frontman is set to release the self-produced, 11-song album – his 14th – on Sept. 9. From the sound of 'Stay With Me' and the previously leaked 'Gimme Something Good,' the album will feature more driving rock than Adams' previous effort, 2011's 'Ashes & Fire.'

If you're more interested in classic Adams material, you can also watch a video below of him performing 'Come Pick Me Up' from his 2000 solo debut, 'Heartbreaker,' at the same Portland show.
