On Thursday (Nov. 5), Ryan Adams celebrated his 41st birthday, and the next day, he was already back to work in the studio. Lucky for us, he shared a sample of the fruits of his labor, teasing two excerpts of a new song on Instagram. Listen below:

The first is captioned “Don’t Wanna,” which may or may not be a song title. Whether or not this turns up on Adams’ proper follow-up to last year’s self-titled full-length is still up in the air, but while promoting his song-for-song covers album of Taylor Swift’s 1989, Adams told Zane Lowe he had already written a double album of his own original material.

In another Instagram, Adams described the new song as Alice in Chains with "some weird dude (me) crying his feelings w too much chorus/ distortion." And just for fun, here's another picture of Adams and company playing a Sopranos pinball machine:

Adams dropped his full-album cover of Swift’s 1989 in September. A vinyl edition is due out Dec. 18; you can pre-order it at the singer’s Pax-Am Records.
