Sam Smith has raised himself to bonafide pop star status with his chart-topping and record-breaking album, 'In This Lonely Hour.' And despite his fame, he's always displayed a calm, humble and gracious demeanor.

Smith had the chance to chat with legendary R&B, disco and soul singer Chaka Khan, who interviewed him for V Magazine, and he doesn't necessarily think all pop stars are quite as nice.

"Even when you meet them -- I won't name names -- but some of these pop stars are just awful," he told Khan. "And they have not even had half the success that you've had and yet you're so humble and kind."

Khan relayed her thoughts on the matter and explained that things were less digital back in her day: "Well, it's people skills. Talking to a screen all day long takes the human experience out. Luckily I grew up in a time when we only had a telephone at home."

According to E News!, the two bonded and even talked about a future collaboration. "We are definitely going to write a song together," Khan told Smith.

He replied, "Hundred percent, I'm in. I was actually thinking me, you, and Mary [J. Blige] would do something."

And Khan agreed with Smith, saying, "That'd be hot. She's a good writer."

Smith is one of the four cover stars, which include FKA Twigs, Tinashe and Jessie J, for the new issue of V Magazine. You can grab your copy here.
