Canada’s annual Sled Island Music and Arts Festival is back for its seventh go-round, and this year’s celebration of live music, film and visual art will be held on June 19-22 in downtown Calgary. The initial lineup was announced last month, and now, a second wave of artists has been added to the bill, including Superchunk, Iceage, Torche and Ryan Hemsworth, plus dozens more.

Other new additions include John K. Sampson, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Mount Eerie, Night Marchers, BadBadNotGood, the Gaslamp Killer, Code Orange Kids, the Slabs, Sons of Bears, Javelin and White Lung, and they’ll be joining such previously announced acts as Jesus and Mary Chain, Swans, Explosions in the Sky, Colin Stetson, METZ, Thee Oh Sees, Divine Fits, Tim Hecker, Joel Plaskett Emergency, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and Mac DeMarco. Last year’s edition of the fest brought the likes of Feist, the Hold Steady, Archers of Loaf and Thurston Moore.

“Sled Island has always struck a good balance between talented new bands and important older one,” wrote Exclaim! in a review. The Calgary Herald called it “a festival that has already earned a reputation for producing dream lineups for adventurous music fans.”

Sled Island tickets are on sale now at a special advance rate of $199 for the Festival Discover Pass and $349 for the Festival Discovery Plus Pass. Click here for additional details.
