Smashing Pumpkins’ ‘Disarm’ Covered by Country Duo the Civil Wars

"We don't have a whole lot that we had similar in the way that we grew up, but this band is the blue-moon moment where we went, 'You grew up listening to this tune? Me too,'" says Civil Wars singer-songwriter Joy Williams of her and her partner John Paul White's appreciation of the Smashing Pumpkins.

The Civil Wars are one of the biggest up-and-coming acts in country music -- they won Best Country Duo/Group Performance at this year's Grammy Awards -- but apparently they both cut their musical teeth on more than just Billy Ray Cyrus (we kid, we kid). To be honest, the Civil Wars turn in a gorgeous version of 'Disarm,' which -- much like the original -- is equal parts tender and troubled.
