Nirvana's all-out mosh fest of a video for 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' has become one of the most iconic clips of the past quarter century. But it started out just like any other music video casting call.

Even though this original flier has been around for a few years, it's making the rounds again, and we think it's too cool to not take a look at again.

Filmed on a soundstage in Culver City, Calif., on Aug. 17, 1991, the video takes place in high school gym, where Nirvana turn a run-of-the-mill pep rally into a virtual riot that ends with the band's equipment getting smashed. The cheerleaders bearing anarchy symbols on their uniforms are a nice touch too.

According to All That Is Interesting, the instrument-smashing climax was not staged. Apparently, the antsy kids -- presumably the same ones who answered that casting call -- got tired of sitting through so many takes of the video throughout the day and staged their own form of protest.

You can watch the still-awesome final product below.
