St. Vincent’s ‘Digital Witness’ Video Imagines Strange and Funky Future

Subscribe to on

Whether the blocky modernist world depicted in St. Vincent‘s new ‘Digital Witness’ video is a utopia or a dystopia is open to interpretation. There’s obviously some kind of totalitarianism going down — check out those hungry peeps banging empty cups and the uniformed dudes marching lockstep in the street — but whoever’s running the show hasn’t outlawed music, and that mean’s Annie Clark is free to bump her ace synth-funk jam, the lead single from her forthcoming self-titled album.

Perhaps we’ll learn more about director Chino Moya’s drab yet intriguing vision of the future in subsequent promo clips. Either way, ‘St Vincent’ drops Feb. 25 via Loma Vista/Republic.
