Earlier this year, Steve Earle celebrated the release of his latest studio album, the blues-drenched Terraplane, via New West Records. Laced with the Texas country rock troubadour’s respect and admiration for the likes of Lightnin’ Hopkins and Robert Johnson, the record might be best summed up in its lead single, "You're the Best Lover That I Ever Had."

Earle recently stopped by the famed Electric Lady Studios in New York City for a couple of very special nights -- one with SiriusXM and another with WFUV. Fortunately for us, his performance of "Best Lover" on night one was captured by director Alex Peacock; check it out below (via CMT):

Earle was joined by the Dukes for the performance and quickly turned the studio -- legendary thanks to its original owner, Jimi Hendrix -- into a raucous honky tonk.

As good as the video is, it doesn't do Earle's live show justice; he's on the road through August in support of Terraplane -- check out his full itinerary below, and get ticket information here.
