Having been screened at prestigious festivals in New York, Toronto and Cannes, Jim Jarmusch’s documentary about the Stooges, Gimme Danger, is set for a wider release. It will be available through on-demand outlets beginning Jan. 31, with its soundtrack being rolled out in stages depending on the format.

The digital download will come out on Jan. 13, with the CD arriving Feb. 24. Both contain 14 tracks, ranging from some of the most famous songs from their first three records, such as “I Wanna Be Your Dog” and “1969.” Jarmusch and Iggy Pop -- who curated the soundtrack -- have also added a few outtakes, two cuts from Pop’s pre-Stooges groups — the Iguanas and the Prime Movers Blues Band — and the MC5’s “Ramblin’ Rose.” The vinyl version, which won’t be out until April 7, omits four recordings — the three non-Stooges tracks and “Little Doll” — and is sequenced differently. You can see the track listing for both below.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Pop, who will be 70 in April, doesn’t miss the decadent lifestyle of his youth. “Even the thought of smoking weed gives me the creeps,” he said. “Going back, I had a binge on MDMA in the 1970s. And at a festival called Goose Lake in Michigan, I was snorting something they said was coke but I learned later was ketamine. I couldn't remember who I was for about 12 hours. I remember smoking crack before it was called crack. It was frightening.”

He also expanded on the retirement talks that accompanied last year’s Post Pop Depression. “I don't expect to use the album form anytime soon, but I hope I can do some singing or talking or writing that appeals to me,” he added. “I just want to continue working and reacting to the world around me and enjoying bearing witness to this beautiful Earth. I like the outdoors very much. And I hope to be of use to the people that depend on me.”
