Stream the Velvet Teen’s First Album in Nine Years, ‘All is Illusory’

It's been nine years since the Velvet Teen mashed together their trademark art pop with electronic sounds and wild time signatures on Cum Laude!, and five years since their EP, No Star. Now the band is back in full effect again with All is Illusory.

You can listen to All is Illusory below. The album goes back to some of the band's more emo-inspired tendencies without giving up on the experimental sounds that colored Cum Laude! It's also their second full-length with drummer Casey Dietz, who replaced founding member Logan Whitehurst. Whitehurst passed away of brain cancer in 2006. Much of the energy of the album is derived from Dietz's complex rhythms.

The Velvet Teen also announced a tour that will take them across the U.S., starting in Seattle and working east before double back and ending in Petaluma, Calif.
