Ever since Sonic Youth broke up, Thurston Moore has been busy doing his own thing. His latest solo endeavor, 'The Best Day,' comes out eight agonizingly long days from now, on Oct. 21. But fear not, faithful fans. Matador Records has kindly made the album available to stream, and you can listen to it right below.

Moore has been the subject of some not exactly positive headlines lately. His split with longtime wife and Sonic Youth bandmate Kim Gordon left a nasty taste in the mouths of many fans. And his recent comments about black metal, which he says was taken out of context, didn't help, either.

None of that has slowed him down, though. He lucked into a new band after moving to London and discovering guitarist James Sedwards, whom he calls "Shredwards," last year. Former Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley hopped onboard, and My Bloody Valentine bassist Debbie Googe rounds out the group. Moore said in an interview with Exclaim that he loves the lineup.

"I mean, the record is 'The Best Day,' but really it's like 'The Best Band,'" Moore said. "I actually should have called the record 'The Best Band.'"
