St. Patrick’s Day should be all about celebrating with green beer and maybe some good tunes. Boston punk rockers Street Dogs were attempting to do just that (at least the latter) during a concert in Anaheim, Calif. on Tuesday (March 17) when a group of neo-Nazis disrupted the show with a racist and vulgar outburst.

The group reportedly attempted to start fights within the crowd, while shouting racist remarks and brandishing Nazi salutes. However, the Street Dogs were having none of it. Frontman Mike McColgan (formerly of Dropkick Murphys) retorted from the stage, “Who here believes all men are created equal?” (via OC Weekly).

Eventually Street Dogs guitarist Lenny Lashley had enough and jumped from the stage and entered the fray, inciting a fight between the band, the crowd and the group of neo-Nazis. Soon, security broke up the fight and kicked the offending party out of the venue.

Band members suffered a few minor injuries, but that didn’t stop them from picking up the show where they left off and completing their set. You can check out fan-shot footage of the brawl in the two videos below.

Yesterday (March 18), McColgan addressed the fight in a statement posted to the band's Facebook:

At this time I would like to officially address what happened in Anaheim. Last night at our show in Anaheim at the House Of Blues while we were playing our song Final Transmission for a dear departed fan and friend of ours USMC Jordan Stanton we noticed a group of Neo nazis rough housing and intimidating our fans and throwing up sieg heil salutes in the air. Their very presence, their hateful, bigoted and ignorant ideology is odious to us and completely unacceptable. We with fans, friends and the assistance of security removed them from the crowd and in the process of mitigating them out some of us sustained superficial injuries. We can attribute those injuries only being superficial in nature to the House Of Blues and their exceptional staff, our fans and our friends. After they were removed we continued with our show and finished the show without incident. In closing we submit this no neo nazis are allowed at our shows. We have always believed in equality and that all people are created equal. We will not suffer or tolerate bigotry in any manifestation. PERIOD!!!!

Respectfully Submitted,
Mike McColgan
