On a recent trip to Georgia, Brooklyn-based indie-folk risers Swear and Shake had Dixie revelers "hooping and hollering," according to the Blue Indian, proving that Yankee kids can master old-timey Americana sounds typically associated with the South.

They certainly make that point with 'These White Walls,' today's rousing free MP3. The tune features traditional instrumentation -- banjo, organ, etc. -- but this foursome doesn't just appeal to the beards-and-overalls set. Earlier this month, they kicked off a tour with alt-hip-hop faves G. Love & Special Sauce, and later this year, they'll play SXSW, where fans already down with, say, the Lumineers and Avett Brothers will swoon for plucky jams like this.

"'These White Walls' was originally a demo recorded by myself in a bathroom," singer and guitarist Kari Spieler tells Diffuser.fm. "The band thought it was such a strong song idea that it quickly made its way into the Swear and Shake set. It's a tune that gets people singing along and dancing, so it's stayed there since."
