SXSW 2013: Best Dressed at This Year’s Fest
For most musicians, South by Southwest 2013 is now a mere speck of dust in the rear-view mirror. That goes literally for the scores of DIY indie bands that drove thousands of miles to Austin in vans and are now heading home and figuratively for the A-listers who sipped champagne in first class on the flights back to their mansions. Either way, now is a good time to look back at highlights from this year’s festival, and how better to start than by critiquing what people wore. After all, fashion is as much a part of SXSW as music, movies and technology — the three official focuses of the festival — and as such, we’ve come up with a list of the most stylish performers. Check out SXSW 2013: Best Dressed at This Year’s Fest.
In the studio, producer, musician and rhymer Pharrell Williams wears many hats, and onstage, he rocks cool caps like the one he sports here at Brazos Hall during the BET Music Matters Showcase.
Actor/rocker Jared Leto compliments his neo-hippie shaggy beard and long hair with a simple, elegant jacket.
The twin Quins of Tegan and Sara show off their individual styles at the official iHeartRadio Showcase.
Roots drummer Questlove gets busy on the turntables at a Myspace Secret Show — and completes his look with his trademark afro pick. It’s functional and fashionable.
Ladies and gentlemen: Prince. (Need we say more?) (We needn’t.)
You could wrap Dave Gahan in a burlap sack, and he would still ooze more sexual charisma than most rock stars half his age.
Few people in the history of mankind can match the seriously fierce style of Mr. Bad Seed himself, Nick Cave.
Charli XCX dresses down for Austin’s casual Wednesdays (and could pass herself off as a J Crew model) in this comfy ensemble.
