[Editor's Note: To get a better sense of what's really going on at SXSW 2013, Diffuser.fm asked some of our favorite artists to file guest blog posts throughout the week. Among those nice enough to sign on was Boy + Kite, an Austin-based indie outfit whose poppy, slightly artsy 'Fall' we gave away last week as a free MP3. In the band's first dispatch, bassist Giuseppe Ponti describes catching Athens, Ga., rockers Maserati yesterday (March 13) and being completely blown away. Enjoy!]

Back in 2006, when I used to play with a band named Lazar Wolf, we had the opportunity to open up for Maserati at the old Emo's in Austin. I remember being completely amazed by their set and especially by their drummer. That was the last time I saw them perform, and sadly their drummer passed away a few years back.

Now that they have a new drummer and are back on the scene, I couldn't pass up the chance to check them out again. Coincidentally, they were playing at the old Emo's -- one of those great free day shows , this one presented by Brooklyn Vegan. And indeed, just like before, they brought the awesomeness once again, new drummer and all.
