The film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s ‘The Great Gatsby’ – starring the award-winning cast of Casey Mulligan, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire – is slated to hit theatres in May, and according to E! Online, Beyonce and Andre 3000 have teamed up to cover the late Amy Winehouse’s breakthrough hit ‘Back to Black’ for the movie’s soundtrack.
We're coming up on two years since Amy Winehouse's death -- she passed away on July 23, 2011, at the tender age of 27 -- but a special gala was held in the British soul singer's memory last night (March 21) at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.
Amy Winehouse did indeed die from alcohol poisoning, a new inquest has revealed. Authorities in London made the announcement today (Jan. 8), and while the initial inquest into Winehouse's July 23, 2011, death ended with the same conclusion, it was annulled last year, when it was discovered that the coroner who conducted the investigation was not properly qualified at the time, reports Rolling Stone.
More than a year after the fact, Amy Winehouse's death will be officially re-investigated following the discovery that the coroner who originally handled the case didn't have the proper qualifications.
The London home in which Amy Winehouse's body was discovered when she died in July 2011 at the age of 27 has sold at auction for $3.2 million, reports the BBC. The semi-detached Camden Square property went under the hammer on Monday (Dec. 3) at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) headquarters in the Piccadilly section of London.
Lady Gaga has been named as a "great" choice to play Amy Winehouse in a biopic by none other than the later singer's dad, Mitch Winehouse. Speaking to Heat, Mitch told the publication that a Winehouse movie was definitely in the works and that Gaga would be perfect for the role. "There will be a biopic," he said. "Lady Gaga is welcome to audition for the part of Amy -- she would be great. Ray Winstone will probably end up playing me."
Plans for a play inspired by the life and music of Amy Winehouse have been canceled after her father objected to the project, leaving the show's producers without the rights to her image or songs.
The North London house where Amy Winehouse lived and was found dead will be placed on the auction block. The three-bedroom house in Camden Town will be sold through British auctioneers McHugh & Co. on Dec. 3.
