Tributes have been pouring in from around the globe following Friday's (May 4) death of Beastie Boy Adam "MCA" Yauch, and bandmate Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz has been extremely moved by all of them. Everybody knows that Beastie Boy Adam Yauch succumbed to cancer on Friday (May 4), but fewer seem to know exactly what he was up against. The rapper's three-year battle began in 2009 with a rare diagnosis: he had malignant tumors in the parotid gland, one of the salivary glands near the jaw and the ear, that had spread to the nearby lymph node. Not the best news, but he remained hopeful.
They can't, they don't and they won't stop -- and then they did stop.
Nobody can fill the extra-large Adidas sneakers favored by the Beastie Boys, but the Roots, Kid Rock and Travie McCoy of the Gym Class Heroes nobly did their best last month when the B-Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. Adam "MCA" Yauch called in sick at the 11th hour -- Yauch's mom later revealed he was admitted into the hospital that very night as he continued to battle cancer, a battle that sadly ended Friday (May 4) when Yauch passed away at the age of 47.
The tributes keep rolling in for Adam "MCA" Yauch. Friday night's (May 4) Red Hot Chili Peppers concert at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., was dedicated by the band to the late, great Beastie Boy, who passed away earlier that day after a three-year battle with cancer -- and, as reported by Billboard, honored him in the most poignant of ways.

Ever wonder what exactly a Brass Monkey is? The Beastie Boys put the Monkey on the map with their 1987 hit of the same name, definitely alluding to the fact that it's a drink -- "I drink Brass Monkey and I rock well," in one verse, "Cause I drink it anytime and anyplace" and "Monkey tastes def when you pour it on ice" in the second -- but never quite explaining what it is. So, in honor of Beastie Boy Adam Yauch, who passed away Friday (May 4), we answer the age-old question: how do you make a Brass Monkey?
Producers of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony have added a dedication to recent inductee Adam "MCA" Yauch of the Beastie Boys, who passed away unexpectedly on May 4.
Adam Yauch is gone, but his his lyrics will live on forever -- maybe even beyond this list of top 10 Adam 'MCA' Yauch Beastie Boys lyrics (joke). Coldplay singer Chris Martin sure knows how to win over a crowd. Friday night (May 4) during his band's performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Calif., Martin took a few minutes out of the band's normal set to turn in an unexpected cover -- the Beastie Boy's '(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!),' in honor of Adam Yauch, who passed away earlier in the day after a long battle with cancer.
