Ben Gibbard stopped by 'The Colbert Report' last night (Jan. 10) to chat with Stephen Colbert and run through a couple of tunes from his second solo album, 'Former Lives,' which dropped last year. The first performance, of the single 'Bigger Than Love' (watch above), featured an all-star backing band comprising guitarist Ted Leo, Superchunk drummer Jon Wurster, keyboardist Jamie Edwards and bassist-singer Aimee Mann, who sang alongside Gibbard on the album version of the tune as well.

Last night (Dec. 21), the Death Cab for Cutie frontman appeared on 'Conan' to perform 'Something’s Rattling (Cowpoke),' a song from his most recent solo album 'Former Lives,' backed by none other than the Los Angeles-based mariachi outfit Trio Ellas.
