It was no secret that big-time Rush fanboy Dave Grohl would officially welcome the Canadian prog-rock trio into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during last night's (April 18) induction ceremony in Los Angeles, but nobody could've expected Grohl, his Foo bandmate Taylor Hawkins and Foo Fighters/Rush producer Nick Raskulinecz to hit the stage in white robes and wigs to cover the Rush classic '2112 Overture' in honor of the band.

Grohl warned those badgeholders and attendees lucky enough to get into the show that it was going to be a long night, but we doubt anyone was too bummed about the prospect of a marathon set with Grohl at the helm. The show was one of the hottest tickets of the festival so far.

Add 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' to that list, as Dave brought his Sound City Players there Tuesday night for a two-song performance that included Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Fortunate Son' (watch above) and Rick Springfield’s Sound City collaboration, 'The Man That Never Was' (watch below). CCR's John Fogerty and Rick Springfield were, of course, along for the ride.

Glowing reports have been filtering back from fans lucky enough to catch one of the handful of intimate shows Dave Grohl's Sound City Players have put on in recent weeks, but last night, one permutation of the all-star outfit finally performed for the whole world to see. The Players hit the 'Late Show With David Letterman' stage with Stevie Nicks to perform the tune 'You Can’t Fix This,' which appears on 'Real to Reel,' the forthcoming soundtrack to Grohl's 'Sound City' documentary.
