The lineup for the 2013 edition of Bumbershoot, set for the Seattle Center from Aug. 31 through Sept. 2, has been revealed, with Death Cab for Cutie, MGMT, Alt-J, Tegan & Sara and the Breeders as just a few of the main attractions scheduled to take the stage over the Labor Day weekend. It's been a crazy 21st century for Benjamin Gibbard, whose soft-spoken voice has permeated the era, and whose Death Cab for Cutie and Postal Service projects have left an indelible mark on listeners' lives. Along the way, he married indie princess Zooey Deschanel, though the two have since split up. Through all of this, he flipped between his native Seattle and adopted home of Los Angeles, all the while writing and recording disarming little solo songs. From these comes 'Former Lives,' his first album under his own name, and a more fitting title would be hard to find.

Recent birthday boy Ben Gibbard has mapped out a fall North American tour that will see the Death Cab for Cutie frontman crossing the country in support of his 'Former Lives' solo album, out on Oct. 16. The trek kicks off with one-off stops in Big Sur, Calif. and Toronto, Ontario in September and October, respectively, before launching properly on Nov. 1 in Minneapolis, Minn. and running through a Nov. 14 gig in Los Angeles, Calif.
