We chat with Dan Boeckner about why the members of Wolf Parade butted heads, when to expect new Operators music, and more.
Divine Fits – the supergroup featuring Spoon's Britt Daniel, the Handsome Furs' Dan Boeckner and New Bomb Turks' Sam Brown – took the stage of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ last night (March 27) to perform their catchy original tune ‘Like Ice Cream’ (above), along with a cover of Tom Petty’s ‘You Got Lucky’ (below).
It's been just about a year since the indie rock supergroup Divine Fits made their super secret live debut at SXSW 2012, so it must have seemed an appropriate time and place to debut a new song when the Fits returned to the SXSW stage at the ‘No Way Back’ party on Monday night (March 11) at the Mohawk in Austin...
It's been a quiet few months for Divine Fits, who we last heard from in November, when they made their network TV debut performing on 'The Late Show With David Letterman.' The indie supergroup, which includes members of Spoon, Wolf Parade and the New Bomb Turks, is now back with 'My Love Is Real,' the latest single off its debut album, 'A Thing Called Divine Fits,’ which dropped last year.
A band that many believe is bigger than the sum of its parts, Divine Fits -- featuring Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade and Handsome Furs, Britt Daniel of Spoon and Sam Brown of New Bomb Turks -- have unveiled their video for 'Would That Not Be Nice,' a tune off their debut album, 'A Thing Called Divine Fits.'
Let’s go ahead and say it: supergroup, supergroup, supergroup. The goofy (and great) term gets bandied about (or coolly avoided) in any mention of Divine Fits, the Voltron formed by Spoon frontman Britt Daniel, Handsome Furs and Wolf Parade guitarist Dan Boeckner, New Bomb Turks drummer Sam Brown and keyboardist Alex Fischel. Their first project, the bluntly titled ‘A Thing Called Divine Fits,’ feels much more together than your average rookie effort -- owing to the fact these are accomplished musicians playing here.
