LCD Soundsystem's farewell documentary, 'Shut Up and Play the Hits,' was screened in theaters last month for just one night only, but fans who missed the very limited engagement are in luck. Plans to release the film on Oct. 9 as a three-disc Blu-ray and DVD collection have been announced.

The documentary chronicling LCD Soundsystem's last show as a band in 2011 has been receiving critical acclaim during the movie festival season this year. 'Shut Up and Play the Hits' will premiere in movie theaters across the country for one night only on July 18. Band leader James Murphy shared his thoughts on the film before its release.

James Murphy has been keeping a relatively low profile since disbanding LCD Soundsystem in 2011, but Brooklyn residents will soon be able to shop at his new store, House of Good -- and we might even be hearing new songs from the band.

LCD Soundsystem have developed quite the following since their formation in 2001. Fans were distraught to discover that the dance rockers were hanging up their instruments a decade later. They played a farewell show at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York City on April 2, 2011, and a film crew was on hand to document LCD Soundsystem's final days for the film, 'Shut Up and Play the Hits.

Not everybody gets to go out on their own terms, which is part of what made last year's farewell shows for LCD Soundsystem such a great event. Singer James Murphy announced the band's conclusion early in the year and then called in the cameras to document the group's final performance.
