Radiohead labored over ‘Kid A’ to the point where they had spent way more time in the studio recording their 2000 masterpiece than they had planned. They also ended up with way more music than they needed. The leftover tracks surfaced on the following year’s ‘Amnesiac.’ And by then, Radiohead were exhausted and pretty sure they didn’t want to make another record like ‘Kid A.’ At least for the time being.

Nobody expected ‘The Bends’ from Radiohead. When the band’s second album was released in 1995, pretty much everyone assumed this would be the last we'd hear from the British quintet that gave us the grunge-era hit ‘Creep’ two years earlier. ‘Pablo Honey’ is the Radiohead album fans wish didn’t exist. From the start, the band’s 1993 debut was doomed for dismissal. It was preceded the previous year by the group’s first single, ‘Creep,’ which, at the time, seemed like just another song in a series of mopey alt-rock tunes that surfaced after Nirvana’s 1991 complaint-rock classic ‘Nevermind.’ Sure, it had that great chunky guitar-slashing assault before the chorus, but other than that, ‘Creep’ didn’t sound all that special.
