Soul Asylum, who enjoyed massive success in the 1990s on the back of their hit 'Runaway Train' and its accompanying video highlighting missing and at-risk youth, are a man down. Lead guitarist and founding member Dan Murphy has issued a lengthy, detailed and heartfelt post on the band's website, revealing that he is stepping down and leaving the grunge/alt rock band that he, Dave Pirner and the late Karl H. Mueller founded 31 years ago. He will no longer tour or record, effective immediately, and for a simple variety of reasons.

Soul Asylum to Release New Album ‘Delayed Reaction’ in July

Soul Asylum are gearing up to release their 11th studio album, 'Delayed Reaction', this summer. The Minneapolis band, who scared the heck out of parents and kids in the 1990s with their music video for 'Runaway Train', also signed a new record deal with 429 Records.
