The Flaming Lips
The space between the Flaming Lips’ 2009 album ‘Embryonic’ and the new ‘The Terror’ was filled with a reverent remake of Pink Floyd’s headphone-tripping classic ‘The Dark Side of the Moon,’ a collaboration record with some “heady fwends,” a six-hour song, a 24-hour song and a pair of giant gummies (one shaped like a skull, the other like a fetus) that housed new music. So it should come as little surprise that ‘The Terror’ is a weird, wacked-out journey to the center of frontman Wayne Coyne’s weird, wacked-out mind.
The Flaming Lips’ forthcoming album ‘The Terror’ is due out on April 16 in the U.S., and the wonderfully weird band has unleashed an epic 13-minute track titled ‘You Lust.’ Give it a listen below -- then watch a video clip of the Lips discussing the finer details of the song (including its length).
The Flaming Lips hit the stage of ‘The Late Show With David Letterman’ last night (April 3) to perform the title track from their upcoming album, ‘The Terror.’ Frontman Wayne Coyne was in his quirky, theatrical element, decked out in strands of rope lights and caressing a plastic baby doll.
The Flaming Lips headlined the Warner Sound showcase at SXSW 2013 last night (March 14), and Oklahoma's finest experimental rockers gave fans a rare treat. As Billboard reports, the band performed their critically acclaimed ‘Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots' nearly in its entirety (watch ‘Are You a Hypnotist??’ above and ‘Do You Realize??’ below), and that meant keeping the party going until after 2AM.
